Gel candies are exceptionally dangerous because they act in two phases:
- Initially, as rubber stoppers, blocking breathing completely
- Eventually, as a “sticky glue” that is extremely hard to remove (airway instruments need to be discarded)
We strongly recommend never purchasing or trying to ingest these products.
“Throwing” this food back (in the throat) could be fatal!
In many countries in South America, they don’t have a warning label as choking hazard and their trading has no control.
