In “Mrs. Doubtfire” (released by 20th Century Fox in 1993), Mrs. Doubtfire uses the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge a shrimp from Stuart’s larynx. Usually the Heimlich maneuver works much more quickly; and while both people are upright. The fall to the ground was for dramatic effect.
Nonetheless, according to news reports, this movie scene inspired several people, including 2 children and another movie actor, to use the Heimlich maneuver to save lives.
